Prologue

"Isaac, you know I'll always love you, right?" Julie Mince asked as she held her boyfriend's hand close to her heart.

Isaac Hanson just nodded. "I know." He whispered.

"Isaac, you know I have to do this." Julie replied softly, her eyes downcast.

"I know." He repeated.

"Please don't be mad." Julie said so quietly, so pleadingly, Isaac wanted to gather her up in his arms and kiss her like those cold winter nights. But he knew he couldn't.

"I'm not." He sighed. "As much as I don't want you to leave, I know you need to do what you have to do." He pulled her closer and kissed her forehead. "I love you too." He murmured into her hair as they embraced in one last hug.

"I better go." She whispered.

They looked at each other one last time. Julie couldn't handle the hurt she saw in Isaac's eyes. She quickly turned and walked out of the Hansons' back door, never looking back.
